Last night, as Donald Trump accepted his nomination for the presidency of the United States, he gave a compelling speech about how he could save the world. He started out by assuring us that if he were to become our president We will be a country of generosity and warmth. But we will also be a country of law and order. That sure would be nice considering everything that's going on today. But then as he got deeper into his speech, he did it the trusty Trump way and expressed his views about immigrants and ISIS terrorists. You can tell that his blood pressure was starting to boil as his voice elevated and his beady eyes began to squint. Same ole Trump rhetoric, we already know who and what he doesn't like.
When referring to the people, Trump never once mentioned anything about him wanting to bring us all TOGETHER, but instead, singling out groups- the Muslims, the immigrants, the LGBTQ community, the police... never once mentioning Blacks.
I don't know, maybe because I am Black, I would've liked to hear Superman address us and his plans for making sure we will be okay under his watch just like he addressed everyone else. After all, his pledge is: I'M WITH YOU- THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. But hey, maybe it's just me... what's left unsaid gets noticed more.
However, I can honestly say some parts of Trump's speech resonated with me, the parts that pertained to Americans as a whole such as debt relief for all, especially students; making the streets safe again; putting a stop to drugs entering our communities; and assuring all youth are treated equally and protected equally.
I also agree with him when he said the most basic duty of government is to defend the lives of its own citizens. Any government that fails to do so is a government unworthy to lead. If I've never agreed with anything this man has said, here is the day that I do because our government is failing us.
All of that save the world and everyone in it, keep all the bad guys out talk sounds grand Mr. Trump... but how much of that speech is your writer's words and how much of it is yours?
