Black History Month Celebrates Quvenzhane Wallis!

Talk about a girl on fire, Quvenzhane Wallis is making history with her stellar performance in the critically acclaimed film Beasts of the Southern Wild . Born August 28, 2003 in Humoa, Louisiana, Quvenzhane is now the youngest person ever to be nominated for lead actress at the Academy Awards. Nicknamed "Nazie," this pint-sized actress who's barely a Tween, has a ton of talent. Quvenzhane was just 5 years old when she auditioned for her first acting job but she had to lie about her age. She said she was 6 years old because that is the minimum age required to be considered. Young Quvenzhane beat out 4,000 other hopeful young girls for the starring role of Hushpuppy in the film Beasts of the Southern Wild .
