Who's That Lady?

Born in July under the fire sign Leo, this feisty firecracker has been making noise within the entertainment industry for over fifteen years. In the year 2000, she left the fashion and modeling club at college and pursued professional modeling. Shaneen got her opportunity to strut in runway shows for Chicago entertainer’s Darryl “Latimere” McGee of Latimere Productions and Upstairs Entertainment. Two years later, Latimere introduced her to an opportunity that would change her life- Motions Classe’ Extravaganza! With that opportunity, Shaneen represented the then number one African-American hair care company in the world, Motions. She modeled and danced her way across the United States on two national tours; during that time she landed top advertisements for the Motions brand in popular magazines such as VIBE, Essence, Ebony and O! Those awesome print opportunities led to many more that she is very proud of.

As a spokesmodel, Shaneen has represented brands such as Motions, Hillshire Farm, BET, Miller Brewing Company, VIA, book covers, and more. With all of her experience as a professional model, having learned the ins and outs of the business, Shaneen decided to step behind the scenes and wear the producer’s hat. She has successfully produced fashion shows for high schools and colleges, the Prom, Bridal & Graduation Expo and Remy Martin. She served an instructor at Barbizon Modeling and Acting School training aspiring models and actors.

Even though Shaneen loved modeling she had a burning passion for journalism, so she set her pumps aside to continue her college career. In 2006, she received her Bachelor's degree in English and Communications. She freelanced for The P.U.B. Report for five years as a writer and a video journalist, packing a lot of experience under her belt covering interesting stories and interviewing some of the biggest names in the music industry. The legendary Patti LaBelle was her very first interview followed by Diddy, T.I., Robin Thicke and more.

This lady Leo has roared on the red carpet at the BET Awards in LA, interviewing many actors and musicians, which added to her already impressive list. After completing an internship at FOX Chicago News, Shaneen continued to explore the TV world as a production assistant and a news writer. She also found time to work on an independent film titled I'll Drink to Death, where she landed the lead role of Carol Parrish on her first shot at acting. Soon after, she took on the role of Linda Carpenter in Oh No He Didn't!
Shaneen wore her manager’s hat overseeing talent (actresses and models), brand ambassadors, ground security, and a street team to help create awareness for the Hennessy brand during the Lady Hennessy Campaign.

Shaneen holds a Master's degree in nonprofit management with a concentration in fundraising. She has a strong passion for mentoring the youth and is a contributing writer online youth magazine BOSS E-Magazine. Shaneen is also a small business owner and a member of the first Black sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

First Lady Michelle Obama is My Homegirl

In light of the Melania Trump/Michelle Obama speech faux pas, I have to say First Lady Michelle Obama is truly an inspiration and it's no wonder why Melania Trump chose to draw from her speech. I mean seriously, our first lady is smart and beautiful and she's taken the role of a first lady to another level, a level that will be very hard to top. From the moment she stepped onto the scene, her presence has been felt. With her memorable Democratic Convention speech in 2008 to the many initiatives she has put in place today. Michelle Obama has without a doubt made her mark and will go down as one of the greatest first ladies in history.   When I was growing up, with the exception of a select few, I didn't hear too much about past first ladies.  Sure there was Nancy Reagan but she wasn't the one everyone talked about or admired. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is the first lady I grew up hearing about and she was long gone ...

Work Hard, Play Harder!

Does the woman in the picture remind you of yourself? If so, Houston we have a problem!   I am a firm believer in enjoying life and seizing the moment... Work hard and play harder is the name of the game! I know how important it is to live a fulfilling life, to me, I'm not living if I'm not fulfilled. On work days, I choose to leave the office and go outside for lunch, especially during the summer months even if I pack a lunch... There's something about breathing in the fresh air, it gives me new life. Haven't you heard the saying stop and smell the roses ? Well, I really do, I stop and smell flowers whenever I see them... Or like the closing line from the talk show The View, take a little time to enjoy the view , and I always do! At some point we have to stop and relax our minds, not just when we are sleeping. It's ok to get distracted sometimes and enjoy a good laugh or have a little fun, it's good for the soul. Some even say those are the thing...
